Legends of Belariath

Brese Dykub

Dykub was the name inked into being as the chirot babe awoken to a grand celebration. Though he would not remember such a celebration for himself, the chirot would grow up seeing many others have similar grand events. Born to a family near the outskirts of the Chirot lands, Dykub grew up quite a rebellious child within the religious society.

The chirot child, Dykub, was thought at first to be quite similar to his namesake. It is said that the original Dykub was a very powerful Aeromancer with a passive nature, so when the child started become more detached from his studies, the village didn’t worry as they expected the child to cling to the element of Wind.

When the child came to the age thirteen, he stole away upon the thermals of the wind and came upon the Village of Rao. Upon his first visits to this human outpost close to his mountain home, the chirot was often found shying away from the inhabitants as he roamed the streets. It was the music of the town that drew the young one out of hiding.

The man, known as Drogan, wielded the violin as if it were an extension of himself, notes of beauty poured out from the instrument that hypnotized the child. Feeling him-self drawn toward the beauty of the instrument, the chirot yearned to learn such a craft himself.

It took years of study and practice, and the chirot caught on quite quicker then others due to his acute hearing. Despite the chirot had the village of his ancestors care for him, he felt drawn to this human and his music. It was not long before the bard, quite weary with age already, finally past on. Leaving the chirot his violin, he died peacefully.

Meanwhile, back at the village of the Chirot, the boy found the time spent upon his lessons in magic slowly declining as he continued to instead study both the violin, and the common language in secret. To say he was a poor mage would be a mistake; he was quite adept in the weaving of magic, but never found the time to practice. Thus, chirot that was supposed to become an Aeromancer eventually left his home and became a bard. Taking the name those in the village below called him, Breeze, the chirot made his way deep into the world of men, hoping to learn all he could while upon the same time have as much fun as possible.
